Job Description
RCS Staffing has an immediate need for a Payroll & Timekeeping Assistant in Huntersville, NC. This is a full-time contract Office Based assignment with our client (with possibility to convert to full-time). This position offers a competitive package including benefits, vacation and holidays. Overview of YOUR role as a Payroll & Timekeeping Assistant As a Payroll & Timekeeping Assistant, you will provide administrative and clerical support to the payroll department by assisting with timesheet review, payroll processing, and maintaining employee payroll records. This entry-level position is designed for someone detail-oriented who enjoys working with numbers and is interested in developing a career in payroll. You will ensure payroll data is accurate and complete while responding to employee inquiries and maintaining confidentiality. As a Payroll & Timekeeping Assistant YOU will:
- Review weekly employee timecards for completeness and follow up on discrepancies
- Enter payroll data including new hires, terminations, pay rate changes, and deductions
- Assist with preparing and processing bi-weekly payroll
- Verify payroll information for accuracy before processing
- Maintain employee payroll records and electronic files
- Assist with payroll reconciliations and audit reports
- Respond to employee questions regarding paychecks, direct deposits, and deductions
- Process employment verifications and payroll-related documentation
- Assist with payroll tax and garnishment administration
- Support year-end activities including W-2 preparation and payroll audits
- Maintain confidentiality of employee information and prepare reports for management YOU are the ideal Payroll & Timekeeping Assistant candidate if you have:
- High School diploma or GED (required)
- Associate degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or Human Resources (preferred)
- 0-2 years of payroll, accounting, bookkeeping, or administrative experience
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (required)
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work with confidential information professionally
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Strong numerical aptitude It's a BONUS if you have:
- Experience with payroll software (ADP Workforce Now, UKG, Paychex, etc.)
- Basic knowledge of federal and state payroll tax requirements
- Experience with timekeeping systems
- Payroll Fundamentals Certificate or interest in pursuing payroll certification About Our CLIENT Our client is seeking a motivated administrative professional to support their payroll operations.
