Position Qualifications:
Associate's Degree preferred Graduation from high school and any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
Essential Job Functions:
Enter new employee demographic information into payroll system and verify for accuracy before processing any payrolls Prepares and enters data for monthly payroll payments, computing proper payment according to employees' status for hourly employees, including after-school staff and tutors Review payroll data to ensure accuracy before processing direct deposit and payroll payments Processes payroll deductions for garnishments, SECU, United Way and approved professional organizations Input and process data for coaching supplements for middle and high schools coaching staff Prepares and processes monthly longevity payrolls Reconciles monthly deduction registers to statements from each company; submits checks and documentation for payment Respond to employee questions regarding pay, paid time off, deductions, garnishments and other related items Assist with Preparing monthly retirement report for submission to the North Carolina Retirement System after monthly payrolls are complete Prepares employment verifications when requested by employees or other agencies Record employee information such as transfers and resignations in a effort to maintain updated and accurate payroll information Assist with setting up new payroll calendars annually and periodically throughout the year to process new pay groups Input supplemental pays throughout the fiscal year Assist with year-end closeout processes; W-2 submission, Audit reconciliation, Summer School payments, etc. Assist with setting up a new fiscal year payroll process; Pay Code changes, Salary Increase Changes, Payroll pay dates and Payroll Calendars Present at bookkeeper meetings changes to payroll items or processes that are relevant to payroll. Maintain confidentiality in the handling of sensitive financial information Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor
