Founded in 1995, Sears is one of the leading specialty subcontractors in the Carolinas, offering top customer satisfaction, safety and uncompromising quality. Reporting to the Controller, the Senior Payroll and Benefits Coordinator must have the ability to multitask in a fast-paced, dynamic office environment.
Responsibilities include:
  • Manage payroll processing, benefits enrollment, workers' compensation claims, and payroll tax reporting.
  • Monthly preparation, audit and entry of insurance invoices and management of benefits related audits
  • Create and enforce HR policies, procedures, and employee handbooks tailored to the construction industry.
  • Facilitate the hiring processes, including job postings and onboarding.
  • Ensure company policies comply with federal, state, and local labor laws, including OSHA regulations.
  • Handle employee concerns, disputes, and performance issues with discernment while fostering a positive workplace culture.
  • Work with various departments to develop and implement training programs for safety and skill development.
  • Collaborate with various teams and departments within the organization, including compliance with special job requirements and distribution of payroll reports among other tasks.
  • Maintain accurate employee records, certifications, and compliance documentation.
  • Oversee performance evaluations and implement improvement plans as needed.
Assist in planning employee recognition and appreciation events Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field (preferred).
  • 3-5+ years of payroll, benefits or HR experience, preferably in construction, manufacturing, or a related field.
  • Strong leadership and conflict-resolution abilities.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in computer software and payroll systems.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.

Pay:
