Job Description
Bookkeeper & Payroll Specialist Position Overview We are seeking a detail‑oriented Bookkeeper & Payroll Specialist to manage payroll and bookkeeping for multiple clients in an accounting office setting. This role requires accuracy, compliance knowledge, and the ability to handle multiple client schedules while maintaining confidentiality and efficiency. Key Responsibilities Payroll Processing Accurately process payroll for multiple clients on a regular schedule (weekly, biweekly, monthly). Calculate wages, overtime, tips, commissions, and bonuses; apply correct deductions and withholdings. Enter and maintain employee data in payroll systems (e.g., QuickBooks Payroll, QuickBooks Online, Canopy). Prepare and submit all required payroll tax filings (federal, state, local) and related reports (W‑2s, 1099s). Resolve payroll discrepancies, address employee inquiries, and handle wage garnishments or court‑ordered deductions. Ensure compliance with wage and hour laws and client‑specific payroll policies. Bookkeeping Duties Maintain accurate client financial records, including general ledger entries, bank reconciliations, and expense tracking Indeed. Prepare and post journal entries for payroll and related transactions. Assist with month‑end and year‑end close processes, including trial balances and financial statement preparation. Manage client accounts receivable/payable and ensure timely billing and payment processing. Client & Internal Support Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll and bookkeeping questions from clients and internal teams. Communicate with clients on payroll, bookkeeping, and tax compliance matters. Collaborate with HR and finance departments to align payroll and accounting processes. Process & Compliance Stay updated on changes in payroll and tax regulations to ensure ongoing compliance Cover Letters and Resume Samples. Identify and implement process improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency Cover Letters and Resume Samples. Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive client and payroll data Other Duties Help during tax season to maintain accurate records of client information. Learn to process simple tax returns (bonus incentive for tax prep work). Maintain clean and healthy environment for staff and clients.
Qualifications Minimum Requirements:
High School Diploma or Equivalent. (we can train you on how to accurately complete daily tasks)Preferred:
