Job Description
The Payroll Clerk will be responsible for processing weekly payroll under the supervision of the office manager. This role requires a high level of accuracy, discretion, and ownership of responsibilities. Individuals should possess the ability to operate independently in a fast-paced, detail-driven environment while proactively staying current on legislation and compliance requirements. The ideal candidate brings hands-on payroll and accounting experience with a strong understanding of compliance, controls, and best practices. Key Responsibilities Include but are not limited to: Responsible for a variety of administrative duties to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing for all employees in compliance with the local, federal, and state laws while following company payrollHR policies and procedures Maintain payroll and employment records including but not limited to attendance, earnings, deductions, taxes, garnishments, benefits, and accruals. Review, audit, and reconcile payroll and employee data prior to submission and after payroll is finalized. Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll-related questions from employees and management. Verify accurate payroll tax filings, year-end processing, and respond to agency notices or inquiries. Maintain strict confidentiality of payroll and employee compensation information. Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, controls, and reporting accuracy. Ensure accurate remittance and billing of employee benefits and contributions including but not limited to healthcare, HSA/FSA, life insurance, voluntary benefits and 401k plans Post all related payroll entries to accounting with accuracy and manage related accounting schedules Required Experience and Qualifications Payroll entryprocessing experience preferred in a multi-entity or multi-location organization Demonstrated expertise with payroll systems, timekeeping platforms, and related reporting tools. Strong working knowledge of payroll laws, wage and hour regulations, and tax requirements Proven ability to manage complex payrolls with a high degree of accuracy Advanced attention to detail with strong reconciliation and problem-solving skills. Professional judgment, discretion, and the ability to handle sensitive information appropriately. Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet strict deadlines consistently. Effective communication skills and the confidence to work directly with leadership. Ability to work mandatory assigned monthly overtime Preferred Background Experience supporting organizations with 100+ employees. Exposure to commission, bonus, or variable compensation payroll structures. Prior involvement in audits or internal payroll reviews. Prior Automotive payroll and accounting experience a plus This position is well-suited for a payroll professional who takes pride in precision, accountability, and operates at a high professional standard.
