Payroll Administrator

About the Role The Payroll Specialist is responsible for ensuring accurate and compliant processing of multi-state payroll across the U.S. This position plays a key role in maintaining financial accuracy, regulatory compliance, and a high level of service for internal stakeholders. The role partners closely with HR, finance, and external vendors to support payroll operations, reporting, and audit activities. Key Responsibilities + Process and reconcile multi-state, semi-monthly payroll with a high degree of accuracy + Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations + Administer payroll transactions including wages, bonuses, severance, and garnishments + Prepare payroll-related journal entries, accrals, and general ledger reconciliations + Support quarterly and annual tax filings (W-2, 941, etc.) in coordination with vendors + Serve as a point of contact for payroll-related inquiries + Partner with HR on employee data updates and benefit deductions + Maintain data integrity across payroll and financial systems + Assist with internal and external audits + Identify opportunities for process improvements and strengthen internal controls Requirements + 3-5+ years of U.S. payroll experience, including multi-state processing + Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field + Experience with payroll systems (ADP Workforce Now required; Workday a plus) + CPP or FPC certification is a plus + Strong knowledge of payroll regulations, tax, and compliance + Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas) + High attention to detail and accuracy + Strong communication and customer service skills + Ability to handle confidential information with integrity + Analytical and problem-solving mindset Robert Half is the world's first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
