Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Administrator to join an onsite team in Newark, New Jersey. This contract opportunity with permanent potential is ideal for someone who has strong hands-on experience with ADP Workforce Now and can manage payroll activities with accuracy, discretion, and a high level of accountability. The role supports both payroll and HR operations, requiring someone who can balance employee support, compliance tasks, and administrative coordination in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and support biweekly payroll processing using ADP Workforce Now, ensuring records are complete, accurate, and submitted on time.
- Investigate payroll and timekeeping issues, identify root causes, and coordinate timely corrections when discrepancies arise.
- Update employee information in HR and payroll systems, including status changes, pay-related adjustments, and other personnel record changes.
- Respond to employee questions related to self-service access, payroll details, and routine HR matters with professionalism and clarity.
- Create, maintain, and distribute payroll and HR reports using system data and Excel spreadsheets for tracking and analysis.
- Maintain organized and confidential employee files while ensuring documentation is current and handled in accordance with company standards.
- Support onboarding activities by assisting with pre-employment checks, new employee documentation, and training coordination.
- Process HR-related invoices and manage administrative tasks such as employment verifications, garnishment records, unemployment documentation, and workers' compensation support.
- Provide day-to-day administrative assistance to the HR and payroll team while safeguarding sensitive employee and compensation information. Requirements
- Hands-on experience with ADP Workforce Now is required, including direct work with payroll and timekeeping functions.
- Background in full-cycle payroll administration with experience processing payroll accurately from start to finish.
- Experience supporting multi-state payroll operations and applying payroll practices across different jurisdictions.
- Prior payroll volume experience within an employee population of approximately 101 to 500 employees.
- Strong ability to review payroll data, reconcile discrepancies, and maintain accurate records.
- Proficiency in Excel and standard reporting tools used for payroll and HR documentation.
- Ability to handle confidential employee information with discretion and sound judgment.
