Job Title:
Payroll Specialist Job Description We are seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist who will be responsible for managing end-to-end weekly payroll processing and ensuring compliance with various prevailing wage laws. This role involves a mix of payroll processing and administrative tasks within a dynamic office environment. Responsibilities Manage end-to-end weekly payroll, including timecard validation, batch posting, and check printing. Utilize Viewpoint Vista and HCSS HeavyJob for payroll and equipment entry. Prepare Certified Payroll Reports and ensure compliance with prevailing wage laws, including DBRA, union, and state-specific laws for Nevada, California, and Hawaii. Track and report fringe benefits, deductions, and union contributions. Process weekly tax payments, garnishments, and payroll-related documentation. Perform front desk duties, including handling phones, filing, and new hire paperwork. Maintain office supplies and support document preparation. Assist executives with clerical tasks and coordinate cross-departmental training. Run local errands, such as visiting the post office or bank, using a company vehicle. Essential Skills 2+ years of payroll processing experience; construction industry experience preferred. Proficiency in Excel with the ability to use pivot tables and perform data analysis. Experience with full-cycle payroll, prevailing wage, and certified payroll (LCP Tracker). Strong attention to detail and ability to meet tight weekly deadlines. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications Knowledge of certified payroll, prevailing wage laws, and union compliance. Experience with job-specific rate sets and handling various rates across multi-state projects. High volume data entry experience, ensuring accuracy and efficiency for 200+ employees. Self-starter who can own the role with minimal guidance. Experience with Viewpoint Vista and HCSS HeavyJob is a plus. Familiarity with DIR and LCP Tracker (trainable platforms). Work Environment You will be part of a small accounting team consisting of a Controller, Payroll Supervisor, and AR Representative. The office is located in a beautiful setting resembling a modern mountain home with high ceilings and floor-to-ceiling retractable glass doors, situated above the Truckee River. You will have your own glass-enclosed office with a river view. The office features a full kitchen and a large covered deck with seating and a BBQ. An office dog, present three days a week, adds to the friendly atmosphere. Flexibility in working hours is offered from Tuesday to Thursday, while Mondays and Fridays are deadline-driven. The location is in the construction industry, requiring thick skin and openness to feedback. It's a worthwhile commute to a stunning workplace. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sparks, NV. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $41.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
