Appointment Length Regular Continuous/Until Further Notice Hiring Range $14.00 - $20.00 Hourly About this Position This position provides administrative support for the Payroll Services department and represents the department to campus constituents. Responsible for providing excellent customer service to departments, employees, and administrative staff. This is done in part by prioritizing and triaging incoming communications, determining appropriate routing and response strategies to ensure compliance and efficiency. Prepares written responses to various payroll related requests. Manages highly confidential employee and compensation data, ensuring compliance with data privacy, retention, and audit standards; mails paychecks; and distributes reissued W-2 forms. Responsible for assisting in the fiscal management of the department by monitoring the available budget, assisting with the fiscal year budget process, purchasing items and services needed to operate efficiently, making sure invoices are paid promptly, submitting copier counts, and responding to other requests for information. Responsible for assisting with the hiring process for positions in Payroll Services as needed. Trains new staff on payroll policies, best practices, and internal processes as assigned. Must maintain a basic knowledge of OSU payroll policies and procedures as well as other policies and procedures, as related to the duties of this position. Required Qualifications High School/GED (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date) Five years of related experience. Post-secondary education may substitute for years of required experience. Skills, Proficiencies, and/or
Knowledge:
Understanding and proficiency in customer service. Excellent communication skills. Practices good interpersonal skills when working with others Capability to maintain the strictest confidentiality. Good problem-solving, research, and public relations skills. Aptitude for using various computer applications. Team oriented in carrying out tasks. Ability to cope with stress in a positive manner. Good keyboarding skills including typing. Strong attention to detail. Flexibility to handle multiple priorities with poise and professionalism. Proficient in the use of MS Office software. Preferred Qualifications Vocational/Technical Computer and/or clerical training. Banner HR and/or Banner Finance experience.
