Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and energetic Bookkeeper and Payroll Specialist to join our dynamic finance team. In this vital role, you will manage comprehensive bookkeeping functions, ensure accurate payroll processing, and maintain the integrity of our financial records. Your expertise will support our organization's financial health and compliance with accounting standards. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a mission-driven organization, ensuring smooth financial operations and precise reporting. Responsibilities Maintain and update the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and accounting standards. Process payroll efficiently using advanced payroll software, ensuring timely salary payments, tax deductions, and benefit allocations. Reconcile bank statements, credit card accounts, and other financial accounts through detailed bank reconciliation procedures. Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including invoice entry, payment processing, and collections. Prepare journal entries for various financial transactions, including debits & credits, to ensure accurate ledger postings. Conduct balance sheet reconciliation regularly to verify account balances and identify discrepancies promptly. Generate detailed financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements for management review. Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks Online, Sage, Xero, and other financial systems to streamline bookkeeping tasks. Spruce software is a plus and the system we use. Maintain organized records of all financial documents and support audits by providing necessary documentation. Assist with budgeting activities and provide account analysis to support strategic planning efforts. Experience Proven bookkeeping experience with a strong understanding of accounting principles such as GAAP and technical accounting concepts. Demonstrated expertise in payroll processing using industry-standard payroll software; experience with QuickBooks Online is highly preferred. Familiarity with corporate accounting practices as well as non-profit accounting environments is a plus. Proficiency in using spreadsheets for data analysis, report writing, and account reconciliation tasks. Experience working with multiple accounting systems including QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or similar platforms also familiar spruce a very big plus . Strong knowledge of accounts payable/receivable management, bank reconciliations, journal entries, and general ledger accounting. Ability to perform 10-key typing efficiently while maintaining accuracy during data entry tasks. Excellent understanding of financial concepts such as debits & credits, account analysis, budgeting processes, and financial report writing. Prior bookkeeper or finance assistant roles that demonstrate attention to detail and organizational skills in managing complex financial data.
