Job Description
A respected organization is seeking an experienced Payroll Coordinator to support payroll operations and ensure employees are paid accurately, timely, and in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This individual will play a critical role in payroll processing, HRIS maintenance, reporting, compliance, and payroll-related support across the organization. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, able to handle confidential information with discretion, and comfortable collaborating with finance, HR, and operational teams. Responsibilities
Process bi-weekly payroll accurately and on schedule, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
Review and verify timesheets for accuracy and completeness
Maintain employee data within HRIS and payroll systems
Ensure compliance with payroll tax regulations, reporting requirements, and company policies
Generate payroll reports and perform Excel-based analysis
Support payroll audits, compliance reviews, and reporting requests
Assist with payroll training and support for employees and community locations
Post payroll-related transactions to the general ledger and maintain accurate financial records
Maintain payroll documentation and organized records for audit readiness
Identify opportunities to streamline payroll processes and improve efficiency through automation and best practices
Serve as a liaison between Finance, Human Resources, and operational departments
Maintain confidentiality and integrity when handling sensitive employee information
Assist with special projects and additional administrative responsibilities as assigned Qualifications
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field preferred
2+ years of payroll, accounting, or related experience required
Experience processing payroll and maintaining payroll records in an HRIS/payroll system
Knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations
Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including reporting and analysis
Experience with payroll software and HRIS platforms
Understanding of general ledger accounting and payroll-related reconciliations
Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in a deadline-driven environment
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism
Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills

- At least 2 years of experience in payroll, accounting, or a closely related function.
- Working knowledge of full-cycle payroll processing, including multi-state payroll administration.
- Hands-on experience with payroll platforms such as ADP Workforce Now and related payroll systems.
- Understanding of payroll tax obligations and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- Strong Excel capabilities with the ability to create reports and perform data analysis.
- Familiarity with payroll accounting concepts, including general ledger postings and reconciliations.
- High level of accuracy, sound judgment with sensitive information, and the ability to meet deadlines consistently.
- Effective communication, organization, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and across teams.
