Payroll SpecialistJob Description We are seeking a dedicated Payroll Specialist responsible for biweekly payroll processing for a public school district in Pennsylvania. This role involves reconciling time and attendance data, entering extra duty payments, and coordinating with HR for accurate payroll execution. Responsibilities Handle biweekly payroll processing for approximately 1,000 employees, covering salaried, hourly, extra duty payments, and contract staff. Prepare and upload monthly PSERS retirement reports. Utilize the CSIU Financial Information System for payroll entry and reconciliation. Coordinate time and attendance data with HR using Frontline absence management, ensuring systems are reconciled before each payroll cycle. Enter pay details for stipends and extra duties, and reconcile data from time clocks and paper timesheets. Use Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs, to format payroll reports and troubleshoot discrepancies. Resolve gaps and review missing information to ensure accuracy across multiple data sources. Work towards transitioning the district to electronic timesheets to minimize missed pay items. Collaborate with HR and other departments to fill data gaps and professionally resolve any resistance. Essential Skills High School Diploma 2 years of experience in payroll or accounting Proficiency in Excel, especially in VLOOKUPs Familiarity with CSIU, Frontline, or Skyward systems Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with PSERS or school payroll is preferred Experience with municipal or school systems Moderate proficiency in Excel, including pivot tables Ability to read and interpret union contracts Solution-oriented mindset with a focus on problem-solving Work Environment This is a full-time, on-site position within a small, close-knit payroll team of two, reporting to the director of business operations. The role requires five days a week on-site work, offering direct interaction with HR and school leadership. There is an opportunity for growth through modernizing payroll processes and gaining exposure to specialized retirement reporting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Havertown, PA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $28.00/hr.
