Job Description

Full-Time, 12 Month Position Located in the

District Office Availability- Immediately General Description:

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll for all District employees. Under the supervision of the Business Administrator and Financial Manager, this position performs highly responsible and confidential payroll accounting work, including payroll processing, reconciliation, reporting, and record maintenance.

Responsibilities

Process biweekly payrolls for professional, support, administrative, substitute, and extracurricular staff.

Calculate salaries, overtime, stipends, retroactive pay, deductions, unpaid leave, and termination pay.

Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.

Administer payroll deductions including taxes, PSERS, benefits, garnishments, and retirement contributions.

Prepare payroll tax filings, reports, and audit documentation.

Review collective bargaining agreements, salary schedules, and employment contracts to ensure accurate payroll processing.

Respond to employee payroll inquiries and maintain strict confidentiality.

Assist with payroll system maintenance, testing, and upgrades.

Qualifications

Associate's or bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, or related field preferred.

Minimum of three (3) years of payroll experience required; public school payroll experience preferred.

Knowledge of Pennsylvania public school payroll practices and PSERS reporting preferred.

Experience with computerized payroll systems; Skyward Business/Payroll experience preferred.

Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills with exceptional attention to detail.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.

Ability to manage multiple deadlines and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

Public School District experience preferred
