A high school diploma or equivalent (GED) and professional experience in related area such as accounting, auditing, finance or commercial lending is required.Preferred Qualifications :
Experience in higher education payroll, experience serving as a payroll lead or senior payroll role and experience with payroll system implementations or upgrade is preferred. Duties include, but are not limited to:Payroll Processing & Administration:
Process semi-monthly payroll for exempt employees, including prorated calculations, contract payouts, leave without pay, and annual leave payouts. Process and oversee biweekly payroll for non-exempt and student employees, including accurate calculation of overtime, differentials, and final pay. Manage time entry and approval processes, monitor missed time reporting, and audit overtime calculations for compliance with FLSA, State regulations, and University policy.Compliance, Controls & Risk Management:
Ensure compliance with Federal, State, and University payroll regulations, includingFLSA, IRS
limits, ACA, CCPA, PEBA, and garnishment requirements. Monitor and ensure retirement contributions, supplemental deductions, and garnishments are withheld correctly and do not exceed regulatory limits.Benefits, Deductions & Reporting:
Enter, track, and maintain voluntary payroll deductions. Calculate and manage benefit deductions, including initial, final, and adjusted benefit amounts for biweekly payroll.Systems, Records & Documentation:
Manage onboarding tax forms through the onboarding and paperless systems into payroll. Create and maintain the annual payroll processing calendar, including relevant deadlines and system updates.Customer Service & Campus Support:
Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll inquiries from faculty, staff, students, and external parties. Accountant/Fiscal Analyst II (AD22/61121837/FTE-S01147P), full-time position with benefits.SC State Pay Grade:

$45,300.00 (minimum) - $61,100.00. Normal work hours are Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Friday 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings, weekends and holidays. Must be flexible to meet the special scheduling needs of the university.
