Position Summary Support
USARCENT
civilian payroll operations with a focus on compliance, audit readiness, process improvement, standard operating procedures, and workforce training. The role is intended to strengthen payroll controls, reduce risk, improve accuracy, and support defensible, audit-ready payroll operations. Key Responsibilities
- Review payroll processes to identify compliance gaps, operational risks, and control weaknesses.
- Develop and implement payroll audit-readiness checklists, internal controls, and supporting documentation.
- Serve as a subject-matter resource for internal and external payroll audit inquiries.
- Document payroll activities and develop clear, complete Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Identify opportunities for payroll process optimization and automation.
- Develop and deliver training on payroll SOPs, compliance updates, reconciliation, and reporting.
- Provide mentoring and knowledge transfer to payroll staff.
- Support complex payroll transactions including garnishments, deductions, off-cycle payments, reconciliation, and reporting.
- Help ensure payroll is processed accurately and in accordance with applicable federal and state requirements. Required Qualifications
- 5-7 years of direct experience as a Payroll Specialist, Payroll Manager, or similar role in a civilian or government environment.
- Strong knowledge of payroll compliance, FLSA, tax withholding, reconciliation, and reporting.
- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing SOPs.
- Experience preparing for or supporting financial/compliance audits.
- Strong communication, training, mentoring, and Microsoft Excel skills.
- U.S. citizenship and ability to maintain the required security clearance. Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation. Additional Requirements
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English sufficiently to perform contract requirements and communicate effectively with Government and contractor personnel.
- Must maintain a professional appearance and conduct appropriate to a U.S. Army headquarters environment.
- Must comply with applicable security, information-assurance, training, access, and contractor-identification requirements.
About the Opportunity This is a full-time FalconTek position supporting an awarded U.S. Army Central staff-augmentation contract at Shaw AFB. The employee will work as a contractor member of the FalconTek team while supporting the assigned
