Payroll Specialist

Description We are looking for an experienced Multi-State Payroll Specialist to assist a major company in the Chattanooga area! This role includes being responsible for managing the payroll process for employees across multiple states. You will be responsible for processing payroll, reviewing timekeeping records, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. Additionally, a working knowledge of accounting is needed for this position. This is a fulltime benefited role.

Key Responsibilities:

+ Process payroll for employees across multiple states, ensuring accuracy and timeliness + Review and reconcile timekeeping records, ensuring compliance with company policies and state and federal regulations + Ensure compliance with state and federal payroll regulations, including tax withholdings, wage and hour laws, and reporting requirements + Serve as a point of contact for employees with questions related to payroll, responding to inquiries and resolving issues in a timely manner + Maintain accurate payroll records, including employee information, pay rates, and deductions + Prepare and distribute payroll reports, including pay stubs, W-2s, and tax forms + Assist with general accounting responsibilities as needed. Requirements + Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field desired + Minimum of 2 years of experience in multi-state payroll processing + Knowledge of federal and state payroll regulations, tax withholding, and wage and hour laws + Experience with payroll processing software, such as ADP, Paychex, UltiPro or UKG + Strong attention to detail and accuracy + Excellent communication and customer service skills + Ability to work independently and as part of a team + Proven general accounting experience + Strong problem-solving and analytical skills + High level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other office software •All candidates must undergo drug and background screening for consideration Robert Half is the world's first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
