is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Payroll Specialist to support payroll processing and benefits administration for our growing solar panel manufacturing operation in Humble, Texas. The Payroll Specialist is responsible for assisting with the accurate and timely processing of payroll, reviewing employee time and attendance records, maintaining payroll data, identifying and resolving payroll discrepancies, assisting with payroll reconciliations, and responding to employee payroll questions. This position will also assist the Human Resources team with employee benefits administration, including benefits enrollment, eligibility changes, payroll deductions, employee inquiries, and related documentation. The ideal candidate has hands-on payroll experience, ADP Workforce Now experience , strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to maintain confidential employee and payroll information in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPayroll Administration Assist with the accurate and timely processing of scheduled payrolls. Review employee timecards and timekeeping records for accuracy prior to payroll processing. Review regular hours, overtime, PTO, holiday pay, bonuses, shift differentials, reimbursements, and other payroll-related earnings. Verify payroll information prior to submission and identify discrepancies requiring correction. Enter and maintain payroll changes, including new hires, terminations, compensation changes, deductions, direct deposit information, tax information, and other employee payroll data. Review timekeeping records for missing punches, incorrect entries, scheduling discrepancies, and required supervisor approvals. Coordinate with employees, supervisors, managers, and Human Resources to resolve payroll and timekeeping discrepancies. Assist with payroll adjustments, corrections, retroactive payments, and off-cycle payrolls when necessary. Review payroll registers, payroll summaries, and other payroll reports for accuracy before and after payroll processing. Assist with payroll reconciliation and maintain supporting payroll documentation. Process or assist with employee bonuses, incentives, reimbursements, and other supplemental payments. Maintain accurate payroll records in accordance with Company requirements and applicable record-retention requirements. Respond to employee questions regarding paychecks, hours, overtime, deductions, PTO, direct deposits, taxes, bonuses, and other payroll-related matters. Assist with year-end payroll activities, including reviewing employee information and supporting W-2 preparation and distribution. Prepare and provide payroll reports and information to Human Resources, Finance, and management as authorized. Maintain strict confidentiality of payroll, compensation, benefits, and employee information. Time & Attendance Review employee time and attendance records to ensure hours are properly recorded and approved. Monitor missing punches, attendance exceptions, timecard corrections, and other timekeeping discrepancies. Work with supervisors and employees to obtain necessary corrections and approvals before payroll deadlines. Verify PTO, holiday hours, overtime, and other paid or unpaid time entries. Assist employees and supervisors with basic ADP Workforce Now timekeeping questions. Maintain accurate documentation supporting timecard adjustments and corrections. Escalate unresolved or unusual timekeeping issues to HR management as appropriate. Payroll Compliance Assist with ensuring payroll practices comply with applicable federal, state, and local wage and hour requirements. Support compliance with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and applicable Texas payroll requirements. Assist with payroll tax documentation and payroll-related reporting. Process authorized wage garnishments, child support orders, tax levies, and other payroll deductions in accordance with applicable requirements. Maintain appropriate documentation and approvals for payroll changes. Assist with internal and external payroll audits as needed. Identify payroll discrepancies or potential compliance concerns and escalate them to HR management when appropriate. Maintain payroll documentation in accordance with Company policies and applicable record-retention requirements. Benefits Administration Support Assist Human Resources with the administration of employee benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, and other Company-sponsored benefits. Assist employees with benefits enrollment, changes, and general benefits questions. Support new-hire benefits enrollment and communicate enrollment deadlines and eligibility requirements. Process benefit changes resulting from new hires, terminations, qualifying life events, and other employee status changes. Review payroll benefit deductions for accuracy and assist with resolving discrepancies. Coordinate benefit deduction updates between payroll and benefits systems. Assist with benefits eligibility tracking and enrollment documentation. Support annual open enrollment activities, including employee communications, enrollment tracking, and system updates. Assist with 401(k) administration and employee questions as assigned. Maintain confidential employee benefit records and documentation. Coordinate with benefit carriers, brokers, and other vendors as directed by HR management. Escalate complex benefits, claims, or compliance matters to the appropriate HR representative. HR & Employee Support Assist with new-hire payroll setup and ensure required payroll information is entered accurately. Support employee onboarding and offboarding activities related to payroll and benefits. Coordinate payroll information for separating employees. Assist with employment and payroll verification requests as authorized. Maintain accurate employee information within payroll, HRIS, benefits, and timekeeping systems. Assist HR with employee data audits and personnel record updates. Provide professional and timely assistance to employees regarding payroll and benefits questions. Assist with payroll and HR projects as assigned. Perform other related duties as required to support the Human Resources department and business operations. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of 2-3 years of payroll, HR/payroll, or closely related experience . Hands-on experience with ADP Workforce Now is required. Experience processing or supporting payroll for hourly and salaried employees. Experience reviewing and maintaining employee time and attendance records within a payroll/timekeeping system. Working knowledge of payroll processes, including regular wages, overtime, PTO, holiday pay, bonuses, deductions, and payroll adjustments. Ability to review payroll registers, identify discrepancies, and assist with payroll reconciliation. Working knowledge of federal and Texas payroll and wage-and-hour requirements. Strong attention to detail and a high level of numerical accuracy. Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to meet strict payroll deadlines. Ability to maintain the confidentiality of payroll, compensation, benefits, and employee information. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and other Microsoft Office applications. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work effectively with employees, supervisors, managers, Finance, and Human Resources. Preferred Qualifications Associate's or bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field. Experience using ADP Workforce Now Time & Attendance/Timekeeping . Previous payroll experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, production, or other high-volume hourly workforce environment. Experience assisting with employee benefits administration. Experience with payroll taxes, wage garnishments, benefits deductions, payroll adjustments, and payroll reconciliation. Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred. Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification is a plus but not required. Work Environment This position primarily works in an office environment within a solar panel manufacturing facility. The employee may occasionally enter production, warehouse, or other operational areas and must comply with all applicable Company safety and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
Compensation Salary Range:
$55,000 - $68,000 per year Placement within the salary range will be based on the candidate's payroll experience, ADP Workforce Now knowledge, benefits administration experience, education, certifications, manufacturing experience, and overall qualifications. Equal Employment Opportunity
