Job Description
Role Summary This payroll analyst position involves overseeing the administration of employee compensation, benefits, and tax withholdings within a comprehensive HR and payroll system. The role requires attention to detail and accuracy to ensure precise payroll processing, compliance with federal and state regulations, and timely reporting. The payroll analyst will serve as a key point of contact for payroll-related queries and support internal audits, system updates, and employee support initiatives. Responsibilities Prepare, validate, and process employee wages, benefits, taxes, and other deductions within the payroll system. Verify the accuracy of employee time and attendance entries approved by supervisors for payroll processing. Maintain organized records of current and historical payroll data, including elections, changes, and supporting documentation. Complete federal and state payroll forms, filings, and compliance documentation for new hires, modifications, and terminations. Administer involuntary garnishments, tax levies, and related orders, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal authorities. Support quarterly, annual, and year-end payroll reporting, including IRS forms such as W-2s, 940, and 941. Assist in audit preparations, data compilation, and responding to internal or external system, control, or compliance reviews. Handle employee payroll inquiries tactfully, providing timely and accurate responses. Collaborate with payroll service providers and internal teams to troubleshoot and resolve payroll issues. Maintain confidentiality and security of employee payroll data at all times. Qualifications High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required; Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or Communications preferred. Minimum of 3 years of payroll processing experience. Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive employee information with discretion. Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines independently. Effective written and verbal communication skills to interact with all organizational levels. Knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations is a plus. Experience with, or knowledge of, the Oracle Payroll system is advantageous. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including use of functions and pivot tables for data analysis and reporting. CPA, CPP, or FPC certifications are a plus. Must be legally authorized to work in the country.
