This long-term contract position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, can manage complex multi-state payroll activities, and is committed to delivering a high level of service. The successful candidate will bring strong payroll knowledge, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work cross-functionally to keep payroll processing compliant and efficient.
Responsibilities: Administer complete payroll processing for multiple client accounts, ensuring employees are paid correctly across weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly, and monthly schedules. Address questions from clients and employees regarding earnings, tax documents, direct deposit details, and withholding matters in a timely and thorough manner. Monitor payroll activity for adherence to federal, state, and local tax requirements across multiple jurisdictions. Work closely with HR, tax, and benefits partners to investigate issues, resolve variances, and support smooth account administration. Maintain organized payroll records and assist with quarter-end and year-end activities, including preparation related to W-2 processing. At least 2 years of direct experience processing payroll from input through final submission. Prior experience working in an employer organization environment is required. Demonstrated ability to oversee payroll for a high-volume client portfolio while meeting strict deadlines. Strong understanding of multi-state payroll practices, payroll taxation, wage and hour compliance, and garnishment administration. Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify and correct payroll discrepancies quickly. Effective client-facing communication skills with a responsive, service-focused approach.
