Job Description

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for processing weekly payroll accurately and on time for employees. This position requires attention to detail and payroll expertise that help support our hardworking, field-based crew. Preferred qualifications include experience processing weekly payroll in payroll systems such as UKG Ready, along with a strong understanding of garnishment calculations and state and federal payroll tax processing. This experience would help support accurate, timely payroll processing while maintaining compliance with applicable regulations. The Payroll Specialist must be available to work on-site five days per week, as this position requires daily in-office attendance. Key Responsibilities Process weekly payroll for multi-state employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Reconcile payroll discrepancies as needed. Maintain accurate payroll records to ensure compliance with government regulations. Calculate and process garnishments, levies, child support, and other wage deductions. Prepare and process state and federal payroll tax filings. Stay up-to-date with changes in tax regulations to ensure compliance. Assist with quarterly and annual tax filings, including W-2 and 1099 forms. Generate and analyze payroll reports for management review. Conduct regular audits of payroll data to ensure accuracy. Assist with year-end payroll activities, including reconciliations and audits. Collaborate Finance to identify opportunities for improving payroll processes. Participate in system upgrades, testing, and implementation of new features in UKG Ready. Address and resolve payroll-related inquiries from employees, providing clear explanations and support as needed. Educate employees on payroll processes and policies, including the impact of changes in deductions, taxes, and other payroll-related items. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred. Minimum of 3-5 years of payroll processing experience, with a focus on multi-state payroll. Proficiency in using UKG Ready (formally Kronos Workforce Ready) is a plus. Certification as a Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) is a plus. Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and integrity. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
