Working as a member of the Human Resources team, the Payroll Administrator is primarily responsible for processing, maintaining, and reconciling payroll to ensure employees are paid accurately, on time, and in compliance with company policies, government regulations, and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements. This role maintains strong internal controls, supports audit readiness, and ensures the integrity of payroll data.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare, analyze, and process payroll, including entering and auditing payroll data within Dayforce (Ceridian) or applicable payroll system Perform payroll reconciliations and provide reports to support the Finance department Execute and document internal controls to validate completeness and accuracy of payroll processing in compliance with SOX requirements Maintain payroll records and supporting documentation in an audit-ready state Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and company policies Process wage garnishments, employment verifications, and other payroll-related transactions Maintain employee payroll files, including auditing for accuracy and proper record retention Provide excellent customer service and support to employees and HR team regarding payroll-related inquiries Support year-end payroll activities, including tax reporting and filings (e.g., W-2s) Collaborate with HR, Finance, and external vendors to ensure accurate payroll processing and reporting Regular, reliable, and predictable attendance is requiredSECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide backup support for benefits administration, including employee enrollments, changes, and responding to employee inquiries Assist with benefits-related reporting, invoice review, and vendor coordination Provide backup support for leave administration, including tracking FMLA, state leaves, disability Ensure payroll impacts related to benefits and leave are accurately reflected when assisting Support audits by gathering payroll and benefits documentation Participate in process improvements while maintaining compliance with internal controls Other duties as assignedSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

To perform the duties and responsibilities of this position successfully, individuals must: Demonstrate strong knowledge of payroll fundamentals, including payroll laws, regulations, reconciliations, and internal controls Have working knowledge of SOX compliance and audit documentation practices Possess a basic understanding of employee benefits and leave administration processes Maintain strict confidentiality and handle sensitive employee data with discretion Communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing Demonstrate strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills Be detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy Effectively manage multiple priorities and deadlines Work independently and collaboratively in a team environment Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel, including pivot tables and data analysis) Experience with HRIS/payroll systems such as Dayforce (Ceridian) or similar platforms preferredEDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Experience processing payroll for a mid-sized organization Experience with multi-state payroll preferred Experience with benefits and leave administration processes preferredPHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
