Job Description
Job Summary for Payroll Specialist We are seeking a Payroll Specialist to process union payroll and ensure accurate, timely payroll operations while maintaining compliance with union agreements and government regulations. This role is responsible for payroll processing, payroll reporting, tax administration, remittances, and responding to payroll-related inquiries in a fast-paced environment. Job Description for Payroll Specialist Coordinate with field management to collect and verify union new hire paperwork, ensuring all information is complete and accurate Create and maintain union employee records in the ERP system, including employment status changes, terminations, severance, and disciplinary updates Review field time entry reports for errors related to hours worked, union classification, pay class, and per diem, and resolve discrepancies before payroll processing Process weekly union payroll and off-cycle payrolls by importing and validating time entries, ensuring accurate calculation of earnings, deductions, garnishments, union liabilities, and taxes Ensure timely distribution of employee paychecks Prepare and process monthly union remittances, reconcile accrued liabilities, and submit payment requests to the appropriate union funds Generate payroll reports, verify accuracy, and resolve discrepancies to support compliance and recordkeeping requirements Respond to and resolve payroll-related inquiries from union employees. Submit new hire reports to state agencies Process child support payments and other court-ordered deductions as required Skills Required for Payroll Specialist Minimum of 3 years of payroll experience, preferably in union construction payroll Experience processing construction payroll preferred Experience with Oracle or other enterprise ERP systems preferred Knowledge of payroll processing, payroll taxes, garnishments, and union remittances Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills Excellent attention to detail and accuracy Strong verbal and written communication skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including data manipulation and analysis Education/Training/Certifications for Payroll Specialist High School Diploma or GED required Additional payroll or accounting training is a plus GAS Energy Staffing LLC is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
