Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Payroll Clerk to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for processing payroll accurately and efficiently, ensuring compliance with company policies and governmental regulations. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and proficiency in payroll software systems. Duties Process payroll for employees on a bi-weekly basis, ensuring timely and accurate payments. Maintain and update employee records, including new hires, terminations, and changes in pay rates. Perform journal entries related to payroll transactions and ensure accurate general ledger accounting. Analyze payroll data to identify discrepancies or issues and resolve them promptly. Conduct account reconciliation to ensure all payroll-related accounts are balanced. Utilize HRIS systems effectively for managing employee information and payroll processing. Collaborate with HR to ensure compliance with governmental accounting regulations. Assist in the implementation of new payroll software or updates, including Workday or Ceridian. Provide support for audits related to payroll processes as needed. Experience Candidates should possess the following skills and experience: Proficiency in accounting software, particularly Paychex or similar platforms. Experience with governmental accounting practices is preferred. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets. Familiarity with journal entries and general ledger accounting is essential. Previous experience in account reconciliation is highly desirable. Knowledge of HRIS systems is a plus.
