Job Description

Posting on behalf of a client: Payroll Specialist We are seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to join our growing accounting firm. This position is responsible for processing payroll for multiple clients across a variety of industries while ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with payroll laws and regulations. This is a fast-paced position with demanding deadlines, particularly during payroll processing periods. The ideal candidate is organized, adaptable, and able to manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision. Responsibilities Process weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly, and monthly payrolls for multiple clients. Review payroll data for accuracy, including hours, wages, deductions, garnishments, and tax withholdings. Prepare and submit payroll tax filings and payroll reports. Maintain accurate employee payroll records and documentation. Respond to client questions regarding payroll processing, taxes, and employee deductions. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations. Coordinate with internal staff to resolve payroll discrepancies. Process new hires, terminations, direct deposit changes, and other payroll-related updates. Assist with year-end payroll reporting, including W-2 preparation. Maintain strict confidentiality of employee and client information. Qualifications Previous payroll experience required; experience in a public accounting firm is preferred. Knowledge of payroll tax regulations and compliance requirements. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines simultaneously. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Proficiency with payroll software and Microsoft Office, especially Excel. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. What to Expect This is a deadline-driven position that requires accuracy, efficiency, and the ability to perform well under pressure. Payroll schedules are non-negotiable, and there will be periods of increased workload.

Based on experience.
