Job Description

Job Overview Personal Bankers shall provide efficient, courteous assistance to customers and non-customers seeking the use of bank services. The Personal Banker will provide knowledgeable help and advice to new customers who wish to open a new account and shall endeavor to cross-sell bank services to new customers and to existing customers. Personal Bankers shall act as paying and receiving agents, processing customer transactions, opening and closing of new accounts, including Certificates of Deposit and IRA's. In addition, they will be responsible for their teller cash drawer including the balancing and security of the assigned cash on a daily basis. Personal Bankers shall be responsible for their individual customer portfolio, which includes all relationships of designated customers. They shall aggressively build relationships with customers to retain existing and attract new deposits. Personal Bankers will be responsible to develop selling programs to build their individual portfolio and subsequently utilize methods to retain those deposits they attract. They will actively participate in the bank sales management programs in order to increase the number of accounts and the account balances. Duties Performs all customer service and clerical duties related to opening new accounts of all types including but not limited to checking, savings, money market, IRA's, and certificates of deposit. Assist customers in utilizing all available and appropriate services for the bank by cross-selling. Refers prospects to others who are more qualified and prepared to sell additional bank services or offer assistance and answer questions. Responds to customer inquiries regarding account balances, etc. and answers customers questions whenever possible; takes stop payments and change of address information and completes necessary forms; process vehicle title and registration applications, process license renewal sticker when requested. Performs additional direct customer related duties such as: Cashing personal checks, payroll checks, and other commercial checks. Sell money orders, cashier's checks, and auto license stickers. Accept loan payments and safe deposit box rental payments. Issue, renew, and cash certificates of deposit. Process Debit and ATM applications. Demonstrates machine usage. Develop and maintain "tickler" system for individual customer portfolio. Provide continuous contact by phone, in writing, and in person for customers within individual portfolio or prospects. Responsible for targeted goals set forth in the business development program. Responsible for cross selling additional services to said customers and working with them to maintain existing relationships. Assist customers with questions involving Electronic Banking, including internet banking, eStatements and Mobile Banking. Assist in the training of new tellers and personal bankers. Assist immediate supervisor and all other bank employees in other areas as requested. Skills Ability to thoroughly explain features and benefits of all retail bank products. Ability to deal effectively; tactfully; patiently; and pleasantly with customers and non-customers. Ability to deal effectively and tactfully with employees in internal departments of the bank in regard to transactions that affect the operation of other departments. Ability to articulate and explain ideas and instructions clearly. Ability to use proper grammar. Must have pleasant and courteous telephone voice with clear enunciation. Must be competent in handling phone inquiries, taking messages, and following up inquiries to satisfactory completion. Must be effective in soliciting information via telephone inquiries. Must have neat and clean personal appearance; good taste in dress. Ability to remember names of customers he/she has dealt with previously. Should be "people-oriented", preferring a job with a high degree of customer contact. Must be trustworthy and discreet regarding confidential information. Must be able to demonstrate poise and effectiveness in dealing with new personal contacts. Must be poised and effective in handling unfamiliar or situations. Willingness to adhere to established procedures. Ability to handle several job responsibilities simultaneously. Functions as a self starter. Is persistent - sticks with tough problems. Is emotionally mature and resistant to stress. Has maturity necessary to request additional explanation, instruction, or direction when uncertain of the proper procedures necessary for successful task completion. Is flexible - i.e., willingness to accept and adjust to frequent change in procedures and work tasks. Ability to perform the following mathematical functions: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, computation of fractions, and accurate counting. Must be capable of utilizing basic software applications (i.e. Word, Excel, Microsoft Office), Cardinal Teller Platform and New Account Platform. Includes general office equipment such as calculator, printer, copy machine, fax, coin and currency counters, and ATMs. Must be able to handle items of weight, including bagged and rolled coin. Ability to use proper sales techniques for selling and cross-selling of bank products and services. Experience required by position is a minimum of a high school diploma and/or one to two years of related experience.
Pay:
$16.62 - $25.02 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
