Job Overview The Branch Support Specialist provides teller, member service, and vault (if applicable) operational support to ensure the smooth and efficient functioning of branch operations. They assist members with their financial needs in the way of account and loan inquiries and transactions. Branch Support Specialists respond to requests in a confident manner handling all transactions quickly and efficiently to meet the members' financial needs while providing outstanding professional service. Duties Responsible for assisting members in person or on the telephone and handling the transactions requested, or directing the member to the proper person, and ensuring that all requests for services by members are processed in a timely manner in accordance with policies and procedures. Receives and processes member financial transactions, including deposits, withdrawals and loan payments. Sells money orders and travelers' checks to members. Transfers amounts from member accounts as directed. Maintains cash drawer and ensures its accuracy and security. Develops and maintains adequate product and service knowledge, promoting and cross-selling credit union products and services that align with member needs. Assists members with mobile/online banking, bill pay, remote deposit capture, and automated response unit questions and issues. Trains and mentors teller staff - providing guidance, answering complex questions, and helps to resolve escalated member disputes. Performs transaction overrides, approves transaction exceptions, authorizes service fee refunds, and assists in resolving overages and shortages. Investigates losses and audits cash drawers. Verifies identity, signatures, amounts, and account details to ensure accuracy. Recognizes and reports suspicious activity and/or potential fraud. Assists in member services included but not limited to account openings and special accounts. Assists with account maintenance tasks such as adding/removing beneficiaries and joint account holders. Assists members in completing loan applications by obtaining necessary personal and financial details; follows up with member on underwriting requests/questions. Handles call backs for loans, new accounts, stale loan applications, counter offers, incomplete applications, and member messages. Assists members with charge back forms and requests. Processes check re-order and temporary check requests for members. Handles facilities issues including ATM, drive-through equipment, cleaning, maintenance, quarterly alarms test, etc. Balances ATM under dual control. Processes night deposit and mail transactions. Serves as a back up to the Teller line in a Teller or Head Teller position as needed or scheduled. Follows policy and procedures related to Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Customer Identification Program (CIP) and Customer Due Diligence (CDD) daily to ensure compliance with current regulations. Strictly adheres to MUCU organizational and operational policies and procedures. Performs all other duties as assigned. Job Requirements High school graduate or equivalent with 2 or more years of related financial experience and/or training. Work related experience should consist of cash handling and/or teller background. Ability to read, analyze and interpret various documents and forms. Knowledge of cash operations in a financial institution. Strong intermediate to advanced skills in computer terminal and personal computer operation, and word processing and spreadsheet software programs such as Microsoft Office products. Intermediate typing skills to meet production needs of the position. Strong intermediate to advanced math skills; balance accounts; add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; locate routine transactional and/or mathematical errors. Exceptional oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions, interpret documents, understand procedures, write reports and correspondence, and speak clearly to members and employees. Ability to deal with complex problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations. Excellent organizational and time management skills and the ability to work with little supervision while performing duties.
