Full Job Description Salary Range:
$19.36 - $26.68 Pay rates are determined based on experience and internal equity.Position Summary:
Verifies all patient identification documents, including patient identification, demographics, and financial information. Responsible for maintaining updated information on patient account until the procedure is performed. This includes insurance, authorizations, and specific procedure codes and services being provided. Clear understanding of patients' benefits based on payer and plan information Clear understanding of determine payer contractual reimbursement rate in order to provide accurate estimate of cost. Advises patient/guarantor of benefits and provides information on financial responsibility the patient/guarantor may have and collects prior to the procedure or visit. Explains services and facility policies regarding payment of hospital bill when able and applicable. Offers financial assistance, screens for patients for government programs, and LVMC Charity care guidelines when appropriate. Provides compassionate service to all patients and family members, so the patient has a clear understanding of their financial obligations. Serves as a contact person for staff regarding questions/issues/account resolution and works with other departments to contribute to account resolution and manage receivables Received incoming calls from patients, medical staff and any applicable third parties that are relative to the patient's procedures and financial obligations. Ability to understand billing elements for timeliness, accuracy, and completeness to comply with contractual and regulatory requirements. Must work well with administrators, directors, managers, supervisors, and co-workers. Ability to prioritize workload to provide enough time for patients to understand their financial obligations and ask questions.District Responsibility:

Working directly with patients to provide estimates of patient financial responsibility prior to services being rendered. These could include any services rendered at LVMC Acute and Clinics. Work with appropriate staff to gather and confirm all charges related to the upcoming procedure or appointment. Other duties assigned by supervisorEssential Functions:
Ability to use computer keyboard, telephone and insurance eligibility determination equipment Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to identify issues and develop effective solutions. Education:
High School diploma or equivalent.Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of related work experience in a healthcare environment, with working knowledge of medical terminology.Skills/Ability:
Excellent verbal skills required. Exhibits the ability to organize multiple assignments and follow through with accuracy. Exercises good judgment under stress.
