Role:
Job Summary The Financial Counselor Supervisor plays a key leadership role within our Patient Financial Services team. This position oversees daily operations across all offsite clinic locations, ensuring patients receive knowledgeable, compassionate guidance through billing, financial assistance, and insurance processes. The ideal candidate brings both hands-on healthcare billing experience and a genuine passion for helping patients navigate their financial responsibilities with clarity and confidence. Responsibilities Supervise and manage the workload of financial counselors across all clinic locations Assist patients and families with understanding current and prior balances, payment options, and financial assistance programs Work closely with front desk and verification teams on daily patient status changes, insurance notifications, and coverage updates Assist the insurance verification and pre-certification teams with issues arising prior to service Participate in data gathering and financial reporting; provide Northside reports as needed Maintain detailed account notes reflecting all actions performed on each account Serve as a communications liaison between the department and hospital Promote the mission, vision, and values of the organization in every patient and staff interaction Attend and participate in Northside meetings as needed Perform regular site visits to all clinic locations May perform duties of subordinate staff as needed Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications College degree preferred 3-4 years of prior experience in a healthcare setting 2+ years of experience in hospital or clinic registration, billing, collections, financial counseling, or customer service Prior experience in financial counseling Knowledge of medical terminology;
CPT/ICD-10
coding knowledge helpful Knowledge of medical insurances including Medicare, HMOs, PPOs, and commercial plans Computer proficiency required Bilingual English/Spanish a plus but not required Skills & Attributes Enthusiastic, positive, and genuinely service-oriented attitude Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively calm distressed or agitated patients and families Ability to manage multiple responsibilities and prioritize tasks effectively Professional demeanor with excellent public relations skills Ability to work independently with strong attention to detail Strong relationship-building skills across all levels of the organization Dependable, punctual, and team-focused Willingness to develop or improve public speaking skills
