Position Overview:
The Dental Insurance Coordinator is responsible for managing insurance processes, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting the administrative needs of the practice. This role plays a key part in ensuring timely claim processing and effective patient communication regarding financial responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
Submit and track dental insurance claims electronically and manually Follow up on outstanding and past due insurance claims Post insurance payments and patient payments accurately Enter and reconcile insurance checks and EOBs (Explanation of Benefits) Communicate with insurance companies to resolve claim issues and denials Assist patients with understanding their insurance benefits and coverage Collect outstanding patient balances and coordinate payment arrangements Prepare and present treatment plans, including cost estimates and insurance breakdowns Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient financial records Support front office duties as needed
Qualifications:
Previous experience in a dental office required (insurance coordination preferred) Strong knowledge of dental insurance plans, billing, and coding Experience with dental practice management software Excellent communication and customer service skills Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Skills:
Familiarity with PPO plans and claim appeals process Experience handling accounts receivable and collections Ability to explain financial information clearly to patients
