COMPANY PROFILE
Southern AgCredit serves the fifty most southern counties in Mississippi and eleven parishes in northwest Louisiana. From the Gulf Coast to the Ark-La-Tex, we provide financing solutions for a wide array of agriculture and rural way of life, including loans for land, improvements, agribusinesses, country homes, operating capital, livestock and equipment. POSITION DESCRIPTION
Full-time intern position beginning June 7th and ending on July 30th. Interns will travel to various branches to experience first-hand the day-to-day duties of Southern AgCredit employees. Reliable transportation is required. This temporary position is not eligible for benefits.
JOB SCOPE
Interns will gain broad exposure to Southern AgCredit by spending time with departments across the association and learning how each area supports the overall lending process and customer experience. This includes receiving an overview of key systems and technology used by the Information Technology department, observing day-to-day accounting functions and financial reporting processes, learning the fundamentals of credit analysis including the 5 C's of credit, and gaining insight from the appraisal department on topics such as reading legal descriptions and understanding property-related information. Interns will also learn the components of the lending process, from meeting the customer and taking a loan application, through credit analysis and decision, to appraisal and loan closing. The intern will work with local staff, departmental employees, and regional specialists to experience first-hand the level of service and personal relationships we have with our customers. This internship will provide the opportunity to build a foundation for professional growth through hands-on experience across multiple areas of the association. Travel away from your assigned home branch will be paid by Southern AgCredit. In addition to the areas noted above, the interns will be asked to engage in a project as defined by Southern AgCredit that will be developed throughout the 8-week period with a final report and presentation to the Management Team on the final day of the internship.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
This internship is open for second-semester juniors or seniors pursuing a degree in Business Administration, Finance, Agricultural Economics, Accounting, or related field. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills, proficiency with Microsoft Office products, the ability to set priorities, and well-developed analytical and organizational skills.
