Job Description

Responsible for providing financial assistance services to patients and family members. Handles inquiries from patients regarding the eligibility for Medicaid. Assists applicants with required paperwork, eligibility requirements and counseling on Medicaid guidelines. Collects money owed from patients and third-party payers to ensure timely recovery of the outstanding accounts receivable.
Principal Accountabilities:
  • Takes inbound calls and makes outbound follow-up calls
  • Works assigned follow-up work queues
  • Obtains and documents patient demographic/financial information
  • Screens patient for NJ Medicaid/Charity Care programs and completes the application for submission to the State/County
  • Follows up with patient or family members to complete the NJ Medicaid/Charity Care application
  • Processes incoming mail received from patients
  • Completes presumptive eligibility (PE) for eligible patients
  • Verifies insurance eligibility when applicable. Inform patients of payment options and financial assistance opportunities.
  • Collects deposits for Self-Pay patients when applicable
  • Advocates for patients by negotiating payment arrangements.
  • Prepares payment estimates based on treatment plans and insurance information such as deductibles, co-pay, etc.
  • Handles complex issues and problems and refers only the most complex issues to higher-level staff.
  • Provides leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to a subordinate group.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Monday - Friday, 9 AM - 5
PM Required:
1. High School Diploma or equivalent. 2. 2+ years of work experience in customer service or relevant fields.
