Experienced Restructuring & Turnaround Associate Paramus, NJ | In-Office -- Travel 20-30% About the Opportunity Our client is a growing independent financial advisory firm seeking to add an experienced Associate to join its expanding restructuring and turnaround practice. The firm advises lenders, investors, and corporate clients on complex financial situations, including restructuring, transaction advisory, valuation, forensic accounting, and litigation support engagements. Its professionals bring deep experience across a wide range of industries, including healthcare, manufacturing, energy, infrastructure, real estate, consumer products, hospitality, and distribution. Position Overview This role offers the opportunity to work directly with senior advisory professionals on challenging restructuring and turnaround engagements. The successful candidate will play a key role in financial analysis, operational assessments, cash flow management, valuation projects, and strategic advisory assignments while gaining significant client exposure and responsibility. Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct company, industry, and market research.
  • Analyze historical and projected financial performance.
  • Build and maintain financial models, including three-statement models, cash flow forecasts, and scenario analyses.
  • Support liquidity management, contingency planning, and turnaround initiatives.
  • Assist with valuation analyses, transaction support, and business plan reviews.
  • Develop client presentations, reports, and other deliverables.
  • Participate in business development, recruiting, marketing, and practice-building initiatives. Qualifications
  • 2+ years of professional experience in Turnaround & Restructuring or similar restructuring fields OR
  • 4+ years of professional experience in finance, accounting, consulting, investment banking, restructuring, or a related field.
  • Prior restructuring, turnaround, or bankruptcy advisory experience preferred.
  • Strong financial modeling and analytical capabilities, particularly in Excel.
  • Experience evaluating financial statements, liquidity, and business performance.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills with the ability to communicate effectively with senior stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Willingness to travel and work in a fast-paced consulting environment. Preferred Experience
  • Exposure to advanced quantitative or statistical modeling.
  • Experience with derivatives, structured financial products, or commodity markets.
  • Knowledge of valuation methodologies and complex financial analyses.
Compensation Competitive base salary, performance-based incentives, and a strong platform for professional growth and advancement.
General Compensation:
$100k - $160k with ~30% Discretionary bonus
