Senior Academic Advisor Department:
Arts and Sciences | Psychology The Senior Academic Advisor fosters student success by defining and implementing proactive strategies that help students stay on track to fulfill their educational goals. The individual in this role advises students majoring in Psychology on university policy and procedures, program and degree requirements, and related academic matters. The Senior Advisor consistently directs students to appropriate resources. They identify new resources and collaborations for resolving student cases. The Senior Advisor is a mentor to new advisors and provides leadership in advising community. The Senior Advisor assists with training new advisors. The Senior Advisor assists in coordination and execution of student orientation. The Senior Advisor coordinates with central advising office for orientation planning and delivery. The Senior Advisor teaches student survey course. They update course materials, recommend course improvements, and help to implement course improvements. They assist with graduation activities, including commencement rehearsal and line-up. They provide additional support to assigned department(s) and work on special projects as assigned by supervisor. The Senior Advisor serves as a liaison with department communications staff with regard to the undergraduate program website. They maintain the Psychology Major Information Modules in Carmen. They advance department retention efforts. They facilitate career discovery and career planning for psychology students.Required Qualifications:
Master's degree required. Two years of relevant experience. Deep understanding of programs, specialty areas, and academic and university policies. Demonstrates adaptive relational skills. Demonstrates superior communication skills; able to provide detail, depth, and context. Able to recommend policy, practice, and program changes to unit and/or university leadership. Understands and follows FERPA guidelines; trains, interprets, and explains FERPA guidelines to colleagues and stakeholders. Able to support/mentor other advisors on complex topics. Demonstrates sophisticated cultural competence across multiple cultures and/or identities. Able to identify and predict ramifications of current and proposed policies and practices on the student population and their programs.Desired:
Four years of relevant experience. Utilizes and integrates historical knowledge of the academic advising profession.Additional Information:
The pay range for this job profile is $54,625.00 - $62,050.00. The offer for this position will fall within this range based on internal equity, the unit's available budget, and the candidate's qualifications.
