Continental US •The Opportunity:
For a long-standing Department of Justice contract, CACI seeks a Senior Title Analyst to support Fifth Amendment takings cases, including Rails-to-Trails, flood, and fire.Responsibilities:
Senior Title Analysts conduct comprehensive title and deed research and may testify as an expert witness on factual research. Periodic local travel to a NARA facility in College Park, MD, or occasionally to local county offices may be necessary. Senior Title Analysts are expected to generate work product through locating, retrieving, reviewing, organizing, analyzing and summarizing various property records. To that goal, litigation support duties may include:- Complex legal research.
- Draft legal documents such as motions, briefs, and legal memoranda.
- Review documents for relevance and privilege; and assist attorneys with all phases of litigation, including recommending case strategy.
- Serve as a team lead, reviewing and editing work product from other team members, such as Title Analysts and Paralegal staff.
- May also testify at deposition or trial in support of their fact research.
Qualifications:
Required:
- A law degree is strongly preferred, but direct and substantial experience may substitute.
- 5+ years of experience working with real estate and property tax records.
- Experience as a Title Examiner or similar in a real estate, mortgage, or tax setting.
- 3+ years of experience on litigation support projects including proven capabilities and communication skills to successfully interact with clients and attorneys.
- Sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources, and thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent organization skills since all documents and notes must be maintained and organized for ready use and/or production to opposing counsel.
Desired:
- In-court trial experience.
- Experience with automated litigation support tools such as Relativity, Trial Director/OnCue, etc.
- Experience with GIS tools valued, e.g., ESRI mapping software involving real estate and related county and environmental datasets to:
- Gather property information from public and private sources,
- Input and process that information into GIS databases,
- Analyze and manage that data, and
- Generate static and online maps for litigation and settlement purposes using standard ArcGIS software.
- Experience as or working with expert witnesses.
- Ability to travel (CONUS).
