Overview Join our dynamic team as a Chief Tax Appraiser and lead the evaluation and assessment of property values for taxation purposes. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the property appraisal process, ensure compliance with legal and regulatory standards, and provide expert analysis to support fair and accurate property tax assessments. Your expertise will drive transparency, accuracy, and efficiency in property valuation practices, empowering local government operations and community development initiatives. Duties Lead the development and implementation of property appraisal procedures for residential, commercial, and industrial properties. Oversee the review and validation of property valuations to ensure accuracy and adherence to legal descriptions and appraisal standards. Conduct complex property assessments utilizing advanced data collection techniques, GIS mapping tools, and financial analysis methods. Supervise a team of appraisers, providing training on appraisal techniques, market analysis, and legal compliance related to property tax assessment. Analyze real estate market trends, conduct quantitative research, and prepare detailed reports on property values for tax purposes. Review appraisal reports for quality control, ensuring compliance with fair housing regulations and appraisal review standards. Collaborate with legal teams on property descriptions, tax appeals, and valuation disputes while maintaining clear communication with clients and stakeholders. Requirements Proven experience in property appraisal or real estate valuation with a strong understanding of residential and commercial properties. Extensive knowledge of accounting principles, financial concepts, and real estate market analysis techniques. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including spreadsheets for data analysis; experience with GIS software is highly desirable. Strong skills in data collection, quantitative research, financial report writing, and legal descriptions related to property assessment. Ability to interpret complex appraisal reports, perform property value analysis, and conduct fair housing compliance reviews. Familiarity with tax regulations such as LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit) programs and local property tax laws. Excellent communication skills for client interaction, report preparation, and presenting findings clearly to diverse audiences.
