Job Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Inspects dangerous / unsafe structures. Obtains permission from owners and tenants to enter dwellings. Inspects property for nuisances and violations such as weeds and inoperable vehicles. Inspects premises for overall cleanliness, adequate disposal of garbage and rubbish, and for signs of vermin infestation. Contacts owners/tenants by phone or in person and prepares forms and letters advising property owners and tenants of possible violations and time allowed for correcting deficiencies. Consults file of violation reports and revisits dwellings at periodic intervals to verify correction of violations by property owners and tenants. Explains requirements of housing standards ordinances to property owners, building contractors, and other interested parties. Issues citations to property owners for code violations. Appears in Court as required on behalf of the City. Follows all City safety policies and procedures. Performs additional duties and tasks as needed or directed.
