ORGANIZATION
The mission of Supportive Housing Communities (SHC) is to provide affordable housing to alleviate homelessness and human suffering. The organization uses a permanent supportive housing approach, which links permanent, affordable rental housing with access to flexible, voluntary supportive services (health care, mental health/substance use treatment and employment services). The organization owns one housing complex and utilizes privately-owned rental units scattered throughout Mecklenburg County to provide affordable housing options. As part of its housing model, SHC also provides comprehensive programs and services specifically targeted to provide the chronically homeless with the support and skills needed to remain stably housed and independent, including comprehensive case management, mental health counseling services and a supportive employment program.
POSITION AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Part-Time Leasing Administrator , reporting to the Chief Property and Leasing Officer, is responsible for providing administrative support to the Property and Leasing Department. This position assists with the day-to-day administrative functions of housing and leasing operations, with a primary focus on maintaining accurate and complete files, preparing required housing and leasing documentation, and tracking important compliance deadlines. Key responsibilities include preparing move-in and leasing packets, maintaining tenant and program files, scheduling and tracking required unit inspections, monitoring upcoming annual recertifications, and assisting with the collection of required income and eligibility documentation. The Leasing Administrator will follow up on outstanding paperwork and documentation to help ensure files are completed accurately and within required timeframes. The position will also provide administrative support to both the Property Manager and Housing and Leasing Manager, assisting with scheduling, documentation, data entry, file organization, correspondence, and other administrative tasks necessary to support efficient property management and housing/leasing operations.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Services, Property Management, or a related field preferred; or a minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience in housing administration, leasing, property management, affordable/supportive housing, or federally funded housing programs. A combination of education and relevant experience will be considered. Previous experience working with individuals and families experiencing homelessness and/or other vulnerable populations is preferred. Candidate should have knowledge of, or experience working with, HUD, City, and other federally funded housing program guidelines and documentation requirements , including Fair Market Rent (FMR) guidelines, income verification and eligibility documentation, annual recertifications, housing inspections, and tenant rental assistance documentation. Experience reviewing and maintaining housing files, collecting and verifying required income documentation, assisting with tenant rent portion and rental subsidy calculations , and completing or reviewing documentation required for rental assistance and housing programs is strongly preferred. Familiarity with HUD forms, housing assistance paperwork, compliance documentation, and documentation related to agency advocacy and coordination with landlords, property management companies, and community partners is also preferred. Experience working with racially diverse populations and demonstrated cultural competency skills; Must have a valid driver's license; Must be able to work independently and in a team setting; Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing; Must be able to demonstrate good judgment, especially under pressure; Adherence to confidentiality laws; Ability to comply with policies, rules and procedures of the organization.
COMPENSATION
The expected hiring rate for this part-time position is $22.00 per hour . Please note that benefits are not offered with this position due to its part-time status.
