Non-union Position Opportunity Pennsauken Township is pleased to offer this employment within the Tax Assessor's Office. We welcome interest from both current Township employees and external candidates seeking to join our team. Position Summary Under the direction of the Tax Assessor, the Deputy Tax Assessor assists in the administration and daily operations of the Tax Assessor's Office and performs technical, analytical and administrative duties related to the equitable assessment of taxable property within the Township. The position requires strong organizational, communication, and property appraisal knowledge and involves interaction with residents, professionals, and governmental agencies. Examples of Duties Assists the Tax Assessor in planning, organizing, and carrying out daily operations of the assessment office Conducts real property appraisals for residential, commercial, and industrial properties Reviews and interprets architectural and engineering plans to assist in determining property values Maintains and updates property records, tax maps, and assessment databases in accordance with state and local requirements Processes and evaluates applications for tax deductions, exemptions, and abatements Assists in the preparation and defense of appeals at the County and State levels Responds to inquiries from the public, real estate professionals, and government agencies regarding assessments and tax laws Prepares reports, analyses, and related documentation for the Tax Assessor and governing body Utilizes appraisal and assessment software systems and maintains related records Performs related duties as required to support Department operations Minimum Qualifications Must possess and maintain a valid Certified Tax Assessor (CTA) certification Valid New Jersey driver's license required Bachelor's degree from an accredited college and university preferred; relevant real estate appraisal or property tax assessment experience may be considered in lieu of education on a year-for-year basis Knowledge of property appraisal principles, mass appraisal techniques, and applicable New Jersey property tax laws and regulations Proficiency in Microsoft Office, computer-assisted mass appraisal (CAMA) systems, and New Jersey Property Tax System (MOD IV) preferred Strong organizational, mathematical, written and verbal communication skills required How to Apply To apply, please visit the Pennsauken Township employment opportunities page at pennsauken.gov.
