King County Restoration is seeking an Engineering Consultant to support complex fire, water, and reconstruction projects throughout Washington. This role will help our team evaluate damaged buildings, identify appropriate repair approaches, coordinate engineering documentation, and provide technical support for insurance, permitting, construction, and legal matters. The ideal candidate understands existing residential and light commercial structures and can translate field conditions into clear recommendations, drawings, reports, and scopes that project managers, estimators, adjusters, attorneys, building officials, and property owners can understand. Depending on licensing, the role may include signing and sealing engineering documents within the consultant's authorized scope. Site Evaluation & Technical Support Inspect fire

• and construction-damaged residential and light commercial properties Evaluate structural conditions, repair feasibility, temporary stabilization needs, and potential safety concerns Document field observations through photographs, measurements, sketches, and written notes Develop practical repair recommendations that account for existing conditions, code requirements, sequencing, and constructability Provide technical guidance to project managers, estimators, subcontractors, and field teams Reports, Plans & Project Documentation Prepare or coordinate engineering reports, repair details, calculations, drawings, specifications, and supporting documentation Review scopes, plans, estimates, change orders, and contractor questions for technical consistency Respond to requests for information and revise documents when field conditions or permit requirements change Maintain organized engineering files, revision histories, supporting calculations, and project correspondence Coordinate with architects, specialty engineers, testing firms, and other consultants when additional expertise is required Insurance, Permitting & Legal Support Explain causation, damage, repair methodology, and code-related requirements in clear written and verbal terms Support discussions with adjusters, consultants, building officials, attorneys, and property owners Assist with permit corrections, plan-review comments, inspections, and documentation required by authorities having jurisdiction Review project records and prepare technical summaries, declarations, exhibits, or expert•support materials for attorney review when requested Provide objective, well-supported opinions and clearly distinguish observed facts, assumptions, and professional conclusions Project Coordination Manage multiple active assignments, site visits, deadlines, and document deliverables Communicate anticipated timelines, information needs, and potential project risks to leadership Participate in project meetings, site meetings, inspections, and dispute-resolution discussions as needed Help establish consistent engineering intake, documentation, and quality-control processes as the department grows Qualifications Bachelor's degree in civil, structural, architectural, or a closely related engineering discipline Active Washington Professional Engineer license strongly preferred; candidates without a PE license must clearly identify the work they are legally authorized to perform Experience evaluating existing residential or light commercial buildings Restoration, forensic, structural assessment, insurance-claim, or construction consulting experience strongly preferred Ability to prepare clear technical reports, drawings, calculations, and repair recommendations Working knowledge of applicable building codes, permitting processes, and construction methods Strong field judgment, documentation habits, and attention to detail Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites throughout the region Ability to communicate technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is comfortable walking a damaged property, solving technical problems, and producing clear written deliverables.

This person is objective, responsive, practical, and able to take ownership of assignments from initial site visit through final documentation.
