Document Specialist Product Development within Food | Hybrid | Offers Benefits Job Description The Document Specialist plays a critical role in supporting food product development and manufacturing by delivering accurate, timely technical documentation to internal teams. This position works closely with R D, Quality, Regulatory, Procurement, and EHS to ensure that product documentation and customer specifications meet all regulatory requirements, internal standards, and customer expectations. The role offers the opportunity to contribute directly to well-known consumer food brands while gaining hands-on experience in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Responsibilities Deliver accurate and timely technical, quality, and regulatory documentation to key stakeholders, including R D, Quality, Regulatory, Procurement, and EHS, while managing multiple priorities and changing work scope. Maintain and update quality and regulatory documentation used in ingredient approvals to ensure all information remains current, complete, and compliant. Gather, validate, and enter product, quality, and regulatory information into documentation systems, ensuring data integrity and consistency. Respond to technical inquiries from internal teams and external partners with clear, accurate, and customer-focused information. Support new ingredient approvals by working closely with external suppliers to gather required documentation and information. Conduct consistent follow-up with suppliers to ensure timely receipt of documentation and materials, often involving multiple touchpoints with each supplier. Collaborate cross-functionally with R D, Quality & Food Safety, Regulatory, and Procurement teams to address questions and move ingredient approvals forward. Manage a high volume of work simultaneously, typically overseeing documentation for 40-50 ingredients at a time, with each ingredient potentially involving multiple suppliers. Prioritize work within a documentation queue, adjusting focus as timelines and urgency evolve based on R D and business needs. Use Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and database systems to organize, track, and maintain documentation and ingredient information. Participate in approximately one month of training and knowledge transfer with the current Document Coordinator, and provide overlap support upon their return from leave. Demonstrate strong attention to detail, organization, resilience, and persistence to effectively track and manage competing priorities and deadlines. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Biology, Chemistry, or a related life science field. 1-3 years of experience in the food industry, with quality or regulatory experience preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including strong Excel skills. Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat for reviewing, editing, and managing documentation. Strong database skills for entering, tracking, and maintaining product, quality, and regulatory information. Experience in document control, quality assurance, or quality control in a food or laboratory environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Lakeville, MN.
