Job Description

SwitchBox LLC seeks Systems Engineer - Project Lead at our Dexter, MI office.
Duties:
Document customer and stakeholder needs and translate them into detailed technical requirements at the vehicle, system, and software level, using Application Lifecycle Management tools. Contribute to system verification and validation planning related to regulatory compliance and production readiness by producing core functional safety work products to ensure compliance with automotive safety standards (ISO 26262 and
SAE J2980
), including System Item Definition, System Architecture Diagrams, Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment (HARA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Fault Tolerant Time Interval (FTTI) calculations, Functional Safety Requirements (FSR), and Technical Safety Requirements (TSR). Author and execute validation test cases to confirm compliance with the defined requirements using tools such as CANalyzer, Integrated Calibration and Application Tool (INCA) and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) simulation. Lead the definition and change management of external system interfaces and communicate concepts and related development activity to all relevant stakeholders within the electric vehicle systems. Work collaboratively with the project team to define system architecture, select components, controller, hardware, and electrical harness architecture, and validate system architecture against the requirements. Document target system behavior observed during validation activities, including behaviors of the propulsion, braking, steering, and charging systems. Assist the team with design and definition of internal interfaces within the boundaries of the system, by defining the communication between controllers, sensors, and actuators, using Controller Area Network (CAN), Local Interconnect Network (LIN), and discrete interfaces. Write technical procedures and step-by-step instructions to enable accurate usage and testing and manage document configurations for different vehicle variants. Manage a cross-disciplinary product development project and oversee mechanical, electrical, controls, systems engineering, and functional safety scopes to deliver a customer-specified product from concept through implementation. Lead the project team by conducting regular check-ins with team members, supporting the team to meet the project goals, coordinating project timeline both internally and externally, managing client accounts for project deliverables, and reinforcing the adoption of engineering and project processes.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Aerospace Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, and 2 years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation, involving functional safety and systems validation for automotive or vehicle electrification systems. Must have 2 years of experience with each of the following, which may be gained concurrently: Interfacing with customers and stakeholders to elicit business and system needs, and translating those needs into documented technical requirements and architecture diagrams; Producing core functional safety work products to ensure compliance with the automotive safety standard ISO 26262, including Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment (HARA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Functional Safety Requirements (FSR), and Technical Safety Requirements (TSR); Using Application Lifecycle Management tools to manage and trace technical requirements; and Authoring and executing validation test cases, and writing technical procedures and step-by-step instructions for accurate usage and testing across different vehicle configurations.
