full-time Position Summary A large, nationally recognized membership organization is seeking a Director of Risk Management & Insurance to support the identification, assessment, and management of organizational risk and insurance matters. This position can be based in either Chicago, IL or Washington, D.C. The Director will oversee the organization's insurance program, including coverage and policy management, claims, payment reconciliation, and coordination with covered entities. This individual will also play an important role in strengthening risk mitigation and compliance practices across a complex organization and its affiliated entities. Key Responsibilities Advise the organization and affiliated entities on insurance policies, coverage, claims, and applicable regulatory requirements. Partner with the organization's insurance broker to review and negotiate policies, renewals, endorsements, and related insurance documentation. Manage insurance claims, reconcile payments, and oversee dispute resolution. Provide ongoing risk management guidance to business groups, affiliates, and subsidiaries. Develop and implement policies, procedures, and training related to insurance and risk management. Lead and support special projects and broader risk mitigation initiatives. Qualifications 7+ years of relevant experience as an insurance or risk management professional, preferably supporting a large company, membership/trade association, or similarly complex organization. Significant experience managing an insurance portfolio, including policy drafting/review, coverage analysis, renewals, and claims management. Strong knowledge of insurance regulations and coverage considerations. Experience negotiating insurance-related contracts and managing relationships with brokers, insurers, and other third-party partners. Ability to work effectively across a highly matrixed organization and advise a variety of internal stakeholders. Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Excellent relationship-building, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
