ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provides outstanding service and contributes to the overall team effort. Manages and coordinates the efforts of Compliance, Fraud and Disputes staff. Acts as the Credit Union's Compliance Officer, ensuring compliance with all credit union policies, procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements, including Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering (BSA/AML) requirements. Maintains knowledge of existing and developing laws and regulations; assesses and explains how new requirements may affect the credit union in terms of risk exposure. Develops, reviews, and updates policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws and regulations, notifying all affected parties of changes and the new procedures adopted. Performs research on complex compliance issues in response to requests from management. Oversees the Credit Union's BSA/AML compliance program requirements, including internal controls, required reporting, monitoring, training coordination, and ongoing review of related procedures. Reviews and analyzes financial institution data, including account activity, transaction patterns, card activity, dispute trends, loss reports, member activity, and employee system activity, to identify potential fraud, suspicious behavior, or control weaknesses. Collaborates with legal counsel when necessary. Investigates and coordinates the resolution of compliance problems, questions, or complaints received from employees, members, or government agencies. Develops the credit union's Annual Audit Work Plan. Participates in Supervisory and Compliance Committee meetings. Conducts risk assessments, collecting and analyzing documentation, statistics, reports and market trends. Coordinates work with federal, state, and third party examiners. Provides leadership and oversight for fraud prevention, detection, investigation, reporting, and loss-mitigation activities across the Credit Union. Oversees member disputes, including dispute resolution processes, regulatory timelines, documentation standards, and coordination with internal teams and third-party partners. Participates as a key stakeholder in all major projects and product development, ensuring compliance. Reviews and assesses policies and procedures; recommends and implements solutions such as insurance, safety and security policies, business continuity plans or recovery measures. Participates in continuing education as directed and approved by supervisor. Maintains knowledge of credit union products and services. Ensures confidentiality regarding member transactions and information. Ensures continuous improvement in processes and procedures that support Fraud, Disputes, and Compliance functions.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Finance, or Business Administration. Five years of experience in compliance, risk management, or credit union/banking management.
Required:
Financial institution-specific BSA/AML certification, such as NCBSO, CBSAP, BSACS, or a comparable BSA/AML credential designed for credit union or banking compliance professionals.
Preferred:
Financial institution-specific fraud, risk, or compliance certification, such as CFE, NCRM, NCCO, or comparable credentials relevant to credit union or banking operations.
