The Director of School Safety and Risk Management coordinates districtwide school safety, emergency preparedness, risk management, incident response, claims coordination, and loss prevention efforts across the district.QUALIFICATIONS
Professional experience in school safety, emergency management, public safety, risk management, insurance claims management, or a related field. K-12 school district experience strongly preferred. Strong organizational, communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and respond professionally to sensitive or urgent situations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Coordinate districtwide school safety, emergency preparedness, and incident response efforts. Support the development, review, and implementation of school and district emergency operations plans. Coordinate emergency drills, reunification planning, response procedures, and facility safety practices. Assist schools and departments with safety-related incidents, documentation, follow-up, and training. Build strong working relationships and coordinate with school leaders, law enforcement, school resource officers, fire/EMS, emergency management, the Utah State Board of Education, state risk management representatives, and other partners. Support compliance with applicable school safety, risk management, workplace safety, and reporting requirements. Coordinate district risk management functions, including incident reporting, property and liability claims, workers' compensation coordination, insurance documentation, and loss prevention. Identify safety and risk management needs, gaps, trends, and priorities across district schools and facilities. Develop practical systems for tracking incidents, claims, trainings, drills, documentation, and follow-up.
