Position Summary:
The Trading Assistant is a member of the front office trading team working directly with the trader(s) to add commercial value through various support functions. This includes trade capture and validation, position reconciliation and risk monitoring, desk liaison both internally and externally, and contribute to diversified desk process improvements.
Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will be expected to be able to fulfill the responsibilities set out below within a reasonable time-frame (up to 6 months). Trade Capture and Validation
  • ensure accurate entry, confirmation, and allocation of derivative transactions into risk management system utilizing order management system and rectifying any breaks. Position Reconciliation and Risk Monitoring
  • perform end of day position, P&L, and cash margin calculations. Track position limits and flag operational / settlement discrepancies. Desk Liaison
  • coordinate order flow and derivative market information with internal business stakeholders. Communicate with external counterparties to reconcile positions. Process Improvement
  • assist in testing new trading technologies, automating manual reports, and increasing desk efficiency.
Requirements:
The successful candidate will need to be able to fulfill the requirements set out below in order to achieve, together with the proper training. Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, Economics or related field Possess a strong work ethic and be able to learn quickly in a fast paced, high-pressure environment Detail oriented, organized, diligent Experience working on a trading desk or similar fast-paced, open environment preferred Maintain composure and communicate clearly when under pressure Ability to succeed working as part of a team Strong interest in trading and derivative markets in particular Strong understanding of math, probability, and statistics High level of proficiency in Excel and VBA Proficient in Bloomberg / SQL / Python a plus Advanced aptitude for problem solving and multitasking Entrepreneurial drive and willingness to work non-traditional business hours Ability to work in office Monday through Friday Ability to travel as needed
