Strong multi trade mechanical background:
plumbing, pipefitting, basic electrical, or shipboard systems repair. Ability to read OEM manuals, NAVSEA Standard Items, and interpret technical drawings. Ability to troubleshoot faults on a variety of shipboard and auxiliary systems Ability to perform corrective actions, replace faulty components, and return systems to service with minimal downtime Familiar with OSHA, shipyard, and Navy safety practices (LOTO, confined space, fall protection, PPE). Preferred Requirements Experience supporting U.S. Navy berthing barges (APL) or afloat platforms or other U.S. Naval platforms Knowledge of NAVSEA drawings/specs and shipyard practices. Experience with other primary and auxiliary shipboard systems Familiar with OSHA-10/30, shipyard, and Navy safety practices (LOTO, confined space, fall protection, PPE).Physical Requirements Regular:
Monday-Friday, 0700-1530. Overtime, weekends, and federal holidays may be required for urgent/emergency work.Travel:
10-20 % Periodic travel to Hampton Roads, VA and Groton/New London, CT for site inspections and coordination. Physical & Safety Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces aboard barges and in shipyard/industrial environments. Must consistently wear required PPE (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, safety boots, fall protection) and follow program safety training/briefings.
