About the Role
The Indirect Tax Specialist will support the company's indirect tax function across audit, compliance, and operational tax activities. This role will assist with managing tax audits across multiple jurisdictions, but will also play a key role in recurring transaction tax functions such as return preparation, account reconciliations, notice resolution, exemption certificate support, and maintaining tax data.
This position is ideal for a tax professional with a solid foundation in indirect tax who is looking to expand their experience across both audit and compliance functions. The role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
What You'll Do
+ Assist with indirect tax audits by gathering documentation, preparing audit support files, responding to information requests, and helping coordinate audit activity across jurisdictions.
+ Support communications with auditors and external advisors by organizing schedules, compiling data, and maintaining documentation needed for audit reviews and issue resolution.
+ Prepare and review sales, use, and telecommunications tax returns, including related workpapers and supporting schedules.
+ Perform indirect tax account reconciliations, prepare journal entries, and support close-related tax reporting activities.
+ Research transaction tax issues, including taxability, sourcing, and exemption matters, and document conclusions.
+ Review and respond to tax notices and assist with resolving assessments and other state and local tax correspondence.
+ Maintain exemption certificate records and other indirect tax documentation to support compliance and audit readiness.
+ Coordinate with internal teams, including Finance, Billing, IT, Procurement, and Operations, to gather data and resolve tax-related questions.
+ Monitor audit milestones, filing deadlines, and other compliance requirements to help ensure timely completion of tax obligations.
+ Keep current on indirect tax developments and help evaluate their impact on compliance processes.
Do You Have?
+ Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or related field.
+ CPA Preferred
+ 1-5 years of professional experience in tax, accounting, or related discipline.
+ Proficiency with Excel (pivot tables, lookups, conditional logic) and comfort working with large datasets.
+ Experience preparing journal entries and performing account reconciliations in a general ledger environment.
+ Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to meet tight deadlines across multiple jurisdictions.
+ Clear written and verbal communication skills; comfortable collaborating with cross-functional teams.
