Role Description The Tax Associate role is an on-site position based in the San Francisco Bay Area. In this role, the Tax Associate will prepare individual and small business tax returns, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with current tax laws and regulations. The role involves reviewing client financial information, conducting basic tax research, and identifying potential deductions and credits to optimize client outcomes. The Tax Associate will consult with clients to gather necessary documentation, explain tax concepts in clear terms, and provide a high level of service and care in every interaction. Additional responsibilities include maintaining confidentiality of client information, using H&R Block software and tools efficiently, and collaborating with team members to support office goals during peak tax season and throughout the year. Qualifications Demonstrated skills in Tax Preparation and Tax Compliance, with the ability to accurately prepare and review a variety of individual tax returns. Knowledge of Tax Law and general Tax concepts, including awareness of current regulations and the ability to perform basic tax research. Understanding of Finance and personal or small business financial documents, such as income statements, expense records, and relevant tax forms. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy and integrity. Effective communication and client service skills, including the ability to explain tax information clearly and build trust with diverse clients. Proficiency with tax preparation software and basic office technology; willingness to learn H&R Block systems and tools. Ability to work on-site in the San Francisco Bay Area, manage multiple client appointments, and contribute in a fast-paced environment. Relevant education or certification in accounting, finance, or tax (e.g., coursework in tax, Enrolled Agent status, or CPA pathway) is preferred but not required.
