Within this role, you will recommend effective tax strategies that comply with laws and promote our client's financial well-being. Your responsibilities will include preparing tax returns, analyzing tax regulations, monitoring industry trends, and completing complex tax reports, including global income, foreign assets and other complex tax matters. Your knowledge of global income is ideal, as a majority of our clients include international non-residents with complex legal and tax situations. To excel in this role, you must demonstrate in-depth knowledge of accounting procedures, time management, and communication skills, as you'll have to ensure our company meets strict deadlines whilst collaborating with our internal and external stakeholders. In addition to being an excellent communicator, our ideal candidate will also demonstrate keen attention to detail with excellent mathematical skills.
Responsibilities:
- Assist and prepare tax returns, extensions and tax planning calculations
- Thorough Knowledge of Forms 1120, 1120S, 990, 1065, 1040, 1040NR, Sales and Use Tax, among others
- Manage and monitor client deliverables and due dates
- Prepare form W-7 and identify requirements per client situation to obtain ITIN
- Manage and coordinate tax audits, for both federal and state
- Build relationships and interact with clients to provide excellent planning, consulting and expertise
- Respond to IRS and state agency audits, inquiries, and tax notices
- Conduct complex tax research and prepare memorandum outlining findings and conclusions
- Evaluate tax regulations and suggest policies that diminish tax burden, in accordance with the State and Federal Code
- Keep track of industry trends and changes related to taxes
- During non-peak season, will assist the accounting department with bookkeeping engagements, as needed
- Other ad-hoc responsibilities, as needed
Tax Associate Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Taxation
- A minimum of 3-5 years experience as a Tax Associate or similar role.
- CPA designation a plus.
- Good understanding of MS Office and accounting software.
- In-depth knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping processes.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical skills.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Prior experience with ATX Tax Software a plus.
- Bilingual (English and Spanish): must be able to read, write and speak.
