Job Description

Tax AssociatePosition Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented Tax Associate to join our tax team. The Tax Associate will prepare and review tax returns, assist with tax compliance and planning, and support client engagements for individuals and pass-through entities. The role focuses on accurate, timely delivery, strong client communication, and continuous learning to ensure compliance with federal and state tax laws while identifying tax-saving opportunities.

Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, partnerships, S-corporations, and other pass-through entities.

Gather and analyze client financial information to identify tax issues and planning opportunities.

Research complex tax issues and apply current tax laws and guidance to client situations.

Assist senior staff with tax provision calculations, reconciliations, and client deliverables.

Communicate with clients to obtain information, explain tax positions, and respond to inquiries in a clear and professional manner.

Manage multiple engagements and deadlines during peak seasons, ensuring accuracy and quality control.

Support tax audits and respond to inquiries from tax authorities as needed.

Maintain organized workpapers and documentation using firm tax software and systems.

Participate in training and professional development to stay current with tax legislation and best practices.

Suggest and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and client service quality.

QualificationsMust have experience as a Tax Associate.

Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; Masters in Tax or Accounting is a plus.1+ years of hands-on tax experience preparing and reviewing returns (experience may include internships or public accounting roles).Solid understanding of federal and state tax laws and regulations applicable to individuals and pass-through entities.

Proficiency with tax preparation software and MS Excel; familiarity with software such as Lacerte, ProSeries, Drake, or similar is a plus.

Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage competing deadlines.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a client-service orientation.

CPA candidate or Enrolled Agent designation preferred or in progress.

Ability to work extended hours during peak tax season as needed.

Nice to have: hands-on experience with Tax Preparation, Individual Tax, Partnership Tax, and other pass-through entity taxation.
